Unbelievably Easter is not far off! I don't know where the year has gone so far, one minute it was New Year's and now it's halfway through March. Crazy. I know Easter is still a month away, but for this kids craft, you will need to get started early.
A bunny food potted garden is a really fun way to get the kids interested in growing edible plants and it's an added incentive for the Easter Bunny to visit.
Before beginning this craft, decide which plants you want to grow and how long they take to grow (from planting to harvest). Lettuce and strawberries take around 10 weeks, but things like sprouts are much quicker.
Once you've decided what you want to grow, gather your supplies:
- Terracotta pots
- Plant seeds
- Craft paint
- Paint brushes
Step 1: Clean the terracotta pots with a damp cloth. Once the pots are dry, paint away!
Step 2: Let the painted pots dry for at least 1 hour.
Step 3: Once dry, fill the pots with soil and plant your seeds per the direction on the packets.
Step 4: Nurture, water and sing to your planted pots and by Easter you'll have the best bunny food potted garden the Easter bunny has ever seen!
We've been able to grow quite a few strawberry's from our little garden, which I was hoping to use in a salad with the lettuce and parsley we've grown, but the strawberries keep disappearing as soon as they're spotted! If I'm able to gather enough before they disappear into the little bears tummies, I will post a recipe for a delicious strawberry salad that would be perfect for an Easter gathering.
Happy crafting and planting!
